My first injury.
No not really. Not even close to my first injury actually, but my first injury since shifting my mindset to forging mental toughness. Before you ask; no, I did not hurt myself running. I have, however, done something horribly wrong to my right knee.
I hurt my knee on a day that I happened to be working. I’m not going to say I hurt my knee at work because that will open a can case of worms for which I do not have time. I’ll just say I was working, and coincidentally I hurt my knee on the same day.
I will also say that I didn’t back off my training at all. I should have, but I didn’t. I ran and lifted weights through the pain. 3 weight lifting sessions and 5 runs on the treadmill, each worse than the last until yesterday I barely managed to hobble 3/4 of a mile before I had to stop due to the pain seething, frustrated, and disgusted with myself.
I would never advise looking up symptoms on the interwebs to self-diagnose because that route always leads to how you’ll end up with an amputation, or worse, but my best guess is that I’ve injured my Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL). I will see my doctor ASAP and in the meantime, I’ll back off anything that causes pain and continue to do what I can to move forward.
Slow progress is still progress and I will not be stopped.
