I need to know I can.
What is this obsession with running a marathon? Why am I so determined to participate in and complete at least one marathon?
I want to do something that is difficult. Difficult enough that it sets me apart from most people. According to a 2012 Runners World, Everyday Health study, approximately half of one percent of the US population has run a marathon.
One-half of one percent.
It is not about being better than.
It is not about "look what I can do and you can't."
It's about dealing with my impostor syndrome.
It's about doing something that will make me proud.
It’s about knowing I can, not just saying I can.
That is step one.
