Tatooine National Park 5k/10k

Thematically this was a fun “race”. I ran 5k today as a training run/test run after working through a very painful knee issue. I think these virtual events are a brilliant idea. They allow people from everywhere to participate in the same event for a shared goal. They also allow one to add fun to what can swiftly become a boring and monotonous training routine.

I have the Phoenix Shamrock Run on the 19th of this month. I used today’s run, though it was only half the distance, to see if I can even participate in the 10k I have planned for next Sunday. I felt strong and ready! I’m going to proceed with caution with my training. I feel confident that I’ll be able to run the full race without having to stop, or even walk.

Again, I’m walking that thin line. Pushing that blue-to-black threshold in an attempt to forge the mental toughness I need to find the peace I want in my life. However, I cannot push forward if I’m fighting constant injury. I’m too old for that!

Go do the hard thing.
